Some clients arrive stuck. Phuong Tran arrived scared. When he first connected with VAOS, AM Visuals was in real trouble, and he doesn't dress it up.
"At the time I was very vulnerable. I was thinking, is my business going to go downhill? I don't know what's going to happen for the next couple of months. I'd exhausted all my savings paying all my guys. I didn't really have any other options."
That's the position most testimonials never talk about: a real team, real payroll, and the founder's own savings covering the gap. If that's where you are right now, this short story is for you.
"You're Just Trying to Sell Me Something"
Phuong's first read on Ayrton was the same one you might have: another coach online.
"He was another coach I saw online that I didn't really believe. Like, you're just trying to sell me something, right?"
What cut through wasn't an ad. It was a voice message. "He said, hey Phuong, I know what your problem is, what you're going through at the moment. I can get you there. Just come, have a try. You don't even have to stay." With nothing left to lose, he came to the mastermind event in July.
The Night It Actually Started
Phuong says the real decision didn't happen in the event room. It happened over drinks afterwards, when he saw who he'd actually be working with. It's also his advice for anyone choosing a coach:
"When you're selecting a coach, you really want to find out who they are as people before anything else, before even knowing what they do. And if you're not willing to be open about yourself, how do you think they're going to be able to help you?"
That openness runs both ways. He showed up vulnerable, said the quiet parts out loud, and committed.
The Best Three Months
"Honestly, for the last three months, this has been the best three months I've ever experienced in my business."
From savings exhausted and bracing for the worst, to the strongest stretch of his business's life, in a quarter. Phuong's own summary of why: "I just needed someone to help me." He found the right people, and let them.
The Lesson
The common belief is that coaching is for businesses doing well enough to afford it, and that if you're struggling, you should wait until you're stable. Phuong's story argues the opposite: the moment he had the least margin was the moment the right help mattered most, and waiting was the one thing his runway couldn't afford. If your savings are covering payroll and you're bracing for the next few months, you're not disqualified from getting help. You're the exact person it's for.
